Farron condemns tax credit reforms
Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron will condemn "cruel, heartless, and misjudged" Tory tax credit reforms as he addresses the party faithful at their South West conference today.
The Cumbrian MP will also hit out at Labour's lack of political principle, after their peers failed to support Lib Dem attempts to block the Government's "punishing" welfare changes.
His comments will be made to party members as they gather in Exeter for the annual Western counties conference. The two-day event at Gipsy Hill Hotel will see delegates discuss campaign strategy and the EU referendum, as well as hearing speeches from former health minister Norman Lamb and former leader Paddy Ashdown.
Taking to the stage this morning, Mr Farron is expected to accuse David Cameron of being more right wing than his predecessor Margaret Thatcher, as he warns more than 250,000 families across the region will be affected by tax credit cuts.
