A local champion fighting for our home
Geoff grew up in Romsey and after some time living and working in London, returned home to raise his own family here. He lives in the constituency with his wife and daughter and is already committed to working hard for the area as a councillor representing North Baddesley on Test Valley Borough Council.
"We wanted our daughter to benefit from everything this area gave me growing up. This is one of the many reasons I am standing to be your MP. It is for her future and the future of all our children, that I will do everything within my power to ensure that every opportunity is taken to protect, enhance and improve the quality of life for Romsey & Southampton North residents."
A passionate campaigner, with a vision for our area and our country
Geoff believes that real economic growth is only possible by the rapid expansion of our renewable energy capacity, investment in science and new technological industries and by rebuilding our relationship with Europe.
"The UK can be a world leader in green energy and technologies. We can improve our relationship with the EU, making trade and business easier and more profitable. Combined, this would generate the economic growth we need, to provide much needed investment in our over-stretched public services and start to reduce our impact on climate change."
Working to protect and enhance the local services we all value
Geoff is campaigning for more funding for schools and the NHS. Working to ensure that residents can see a GP when they need to and can be sure of a first class education for their children, irrespective of their postcode.
"My father was a teacher and my mother was a local GP. I have seen how Conservatives have consistently under-funded these public services. I understand the pressures faced by our overstretched public workers. As a parent I also understand the worry and concern residents have when they can not see a doctor, get their children into a local school of their choosing. Investment in health and education, is investment in all our futures."
The right experience to be a credible MP
Currently working as a European Business Manager for Bacardi-Martini Ltd, Geoff has over 15 years experience in business and commerce, negotiating multimillion pound contracts and being an inclusive leader and mentor. However, his first career was actually in the arts. Geoff trained as an actor and dancer and worked professionally up until his mid-twenties.
"I'm not what you might call a 'career politician'. In fact, I never thought I would find myself in frontline politics. However, I have become so frustrated with the direction our country is headed, that I felt compelled to stand up and do something about it. I have had two very different careers so far, both of which have given me a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills that I will use to serve the people as an effective and credible MP. I am driven by a desire to help, by the knowledge that I have something to offer and the drive to work hard to better the lives of our residents.
