Hook Road, Hocombe Road & Hursley Road Safety Campaign

To prevent further collisions, personal injury and serious accidents, we call on Hampshire County Council to reconsider proposals and come up with solutions to improve the safety at this dangerous junction.

The junction of Hook Road, Hursley Road and Hocombe Road [grid reference SU 42687 22952) is a busy route between Romsey, Winchester, Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh and the surrounding areas. The junction leads to the M3.

The surrounding road network comprises of residential properties, local schools and businesses. Cyclists, lorries, HGVs, cars, and vans use the junction.

A monitoring exercise took place on Monday 22nd of May at 9am by Cllr Tim Groves and Cllr Sally Yalden.  Due to the volume of traffic travelling in all directions, it was an overwhelming exercise but an easy one to observe the potential dangers.

It is well known in the local community that there are regular collisions and near misses at this junction. Hampshire County Council has said that there are no current plans for further intervention at this site.

We are calling on Hampshire County Council to reconsider proposals and come up with solutions to improve the safety at this dangerous junction.
