Jo Slimin a voice for Tadley

1 Nov 2016

Jo Slimin is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Tadley South in the by-election scheduled for November 24th.

Jo Slimin

Jo has been a Tadley Town councillor since 1983 and has previously served as a Borough councillor for Tadley South. She has helped Tadley get local facilities like the swimming pool, our community football ground and set up the Tadley Citizens Advice. Currently Jo serves Tadley through local organisations as the Chair of the local Citizens Advice , Chair of the Barlow's Park Management Association ( the football facility), as a Governor of Bishopswood schools, serves on the Turbary Allotment Charity and is a Director of Calleva Community Energy a not for profit company to get solar panels for local businesses.

Jo is the best candidate to represent Tadley South on Basingstoke and Deane Council. Recently she has been helping the Tadley Lib Dems campaign to get a suitable waste recycling site which they have been working on ever since the site at Paices Hill closed. Despite our efforts, Tadley has been ignored by the Tory councillors in Basingstoke and Winchester. Now Tories have blocked Tadley residents using the nearest sites in West Berkshire for free as well.

Jo also knows as a grandparent and school governor how important the children's centres can be. Conservative councillors backed proposals to close the Home tree centre at Tadley Community Centre. Tadley residents will now have to travel to west of Basingstoke to access the service. Jo Slimin is backing Liberal Democrat proposals to use the existing network of mother and toddler groups and Community centres to make sure children and their parents can access support, friendship and advice locally.
